To round out the first half of the Autumn Term, our Foxes have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Light. We started off the week by finishing our Bears topic, bringing in and talking about our bears in a special circle time. Our book of the week is 'The Story of Rama and Sita.' In Literacy, we have been using our own vocabulary to retell the story of 'Rama and Sita.' In Maths, we have been looking at representing 1, 2, and 3 as quantities. We even challenged ourselves by looking at ways of showing number 4, and talking about one more and one less. During our Understanding the World sessions, we have been looking at India and also talking about using the internet safely. In PSHE this week, we have been looking at staying safe during Halloween!
We have been embedding our learning in the following ways:
- moulding clay to make Diya Lamps
- developing our fine motor skills with tweezers and pompoms in our Diwali Tuff Tray
- listening to instructions when making our Coconut Barfi
- learning our new sounds in Phonics
- exploring our taste buds in our 'Taste of India' tasting session
- enhancing our pattern making in designing Mendhi and Rangoli
- consolidating our internet safety learning by using the iPads safely.
