This week, our Foxes have started their topic on Bears. In Literacy, our book of the week is 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and the children have been identifying initial sounds at the start of words related to the story. We also discussed what people might eat for breakfast in other countries, as opposed to porridge like the Three Bears. In Maths, the children have been looking at comparing height and length and incorporating their new mathematical vocabulary into their play. During our Understanding the World lessons, the children have been discussing the natural world around them and e-safety. In PSHE, we have been looking at different scenarios and how these could affect our feelings. The children also had their first Pics and Tell session where they were talking about their families and what they did at the weekend.
We have been consolidating our learning in the following ways:
- building cottages for the bears out of coloured blocks
- seeing if we can put the correct quantity of compare bears in the cottages
- using our fine motor skills to feed the bears their porridge in our small world tuff tray
- sorting objects in order from shortest to tallest using an interactive game
- practising our letter formation using the whiteboards and pens
- building obstacle courses in the outside area
- developing our cutting and sticking skills
- using wool to compare length
- reading books in our new Bear Cave
- leaf hunting and using them to make bear collages
- developing our gross motor skills in PE with Coach Pearcy
