This week in Deer Class we’ve hit the ground running as we begin the summer term!

In English, we’ve been diving into The Day the Crayons Quit and using the story to explore persuasive writing. The children loved stepping into the crayons’ shoes and thinking about how to convince someone using clear reasons and emotive language.

In Maths, we’ve started our new topic on fractions, learning all about halves, quarters and thirds - both in shapes and in amounts. The class has shown great enthusiasm for spotting fractions in the world around them.

Our topic for this half-term is Florence Nightingale, and we’ve begun exploring how her remarkable work transformed modern nursing forever. The children are already fascinated by her bravery and determination.

In Science, we’ve been looking closely at bulbs and seeds, thinking about how plants grow and what they need to survive.

It’s been a brilliant start to the term, and we’re excited about everything still to come.
