Our lovely Foxes have had a wonderful start to our final term in Reception! Our topic over the next few weeks will be 'People Who Help Us' and will cover different roles and occupations. This week, we have been learning about the book 'Superworm' by Julia Donaldson. We had some great discussions about how he helped others and why he is called "Superworm!" In Literacy, we have been practising our writing skills by writing some simple descriptive words.
We created a class brainstorm about who helps us in everyday life and in an emergency. The children gave some wonderful answers. In Maths, we have been counting and creating number bonds to 10. In PSHE, we have been learning the importance of friendship and helping others. In Gymnastics, we have been learning different ways to jump and how to jump safely.
We also carried out many activities during our exploring time, such as:
-Using different objects to make 10 on a tens frame
-Enhancing our cutting skills to create Superworm character puppets
-Exploring fiction and non-fiction books in our reading area
-Using our fine motor skills to create tissue paper worms and watching them grow
-Spring cleaning in the outdoor area, weeding and sweeping up leaves
-Enjoying hunting for different bugs in cloud dough and in and around our Bug Hotel
