This week, we introduced our topic of Mother's Day. In our Literacy sessions this week, we have been reading the book 'Mums are Magnificent' and thinking about our Mummy's and what they mean to us. We have also added the words 'Unique', 'Magnificent', 'Inventive' and 'Caring' to our word bank and what these words mean and how we might use them. In our Maths lessons this week we have been talking about shapes in everyday life and going on shape hunts to see what we can find in our indoor and outdoor classrooms. In our Understanding the World sessions, we have been discussing Mother's Day and why we celebrate it. In Pics and Tell this week, the children loved showing off their farms and the animals they drew on them. During PSHE, the children have been learning about keeping our teeth healthy.

We have been busy exploring by carrying out the following activities:

-Writing and creating Mother's Day Cards (Ssshhh!)

-Developing our fine motor skills with playdoh

-Enhancing our cutting skills by making Mother's Day wreaths

-Developing our balance and coordination skills using balance beams in Gymnastics

-Using watercolour to paint spring flowers on the easel

-Exploring why we might give our mummy's flowers on Mother's Day
