Autumn has come to the Bluebell woods. Mushrooms are growing on the tree stumps and the leaves are warm shades of orange, yellow and brown. The children enjoyed making bird feeders by filling pine cones with lard and seeds. They worked in groups to build shelters for small woodland creatures. They combined playdough with natural objects to create artwork.
Deer Class expressed themselves through dance this week. They re-enacted parts of the story The Snail and the Whale. They were exploding volcanoes, flowing lava, zig-zag lightening, whales shooting water out of their blow holes and tiny snails with wriggly antennae.
We now have a gaggle of scarecrows in class after the children created unique stick puppets using wooden spoons. We used our cutting, glueing, drawing and tying skills to dress the scarecrows and give them hair and faces.
