This week our Foxes have started their new topic of Pirates. We've been looking at non-fiction books about pirates together and working on sentence writing in Literacy. In Maths, we have recapped weight and used new mathematical vocabulary such as 'lighter' and 'heavier' and used scales to weigh different objects from around the room. In Understanding the World this week, we've looked at what pirates were. We have also been talking about the sea and the fish that pirates might have seen, which has linked beautifully into our PSHE this week on how we can keep our oceans clean and protecting marine life. We have also started Forest School this week, which the children absolutely loved. They were free to explore, looking for bugs, using the ropes to practise balancing and climbing the trees. 

We have consolidated our learning by doing the following activities: 

-Using our fine motor skills to manipulate playdough into different sea creatures

-Building pirate ships out of construction and Lego

-Enhancing our coordination and balance using hula-hoops
-Learning how to look after cress seeds

-Practising reading and writing our Tricky Words

-Developing our listening and turn taking in our Oracy sessions

-Using our imagination to create our own treasure maps
