This week, our Foxes have been learning about the story 'Lanterns and Firecrackers'. We have been discussing about celebrations and how Chinese New Year is celebrated at home. We also took part in a class Dragon dance which was a great success. In Literacy, our Foxes have been acting out the story of the 'Great Race' and sequencing pictures. During our phonics lessons, we have been recapping all of our sounds, digraphs and trigraphs that we have learnt so far. In Maths, we have been comparing and measuring length and height of our Fox class children. In PSHE, we learnt about how our bodies are our own and learnt our 'Pants are Private' song linked to NSPCC. During our Forest School sessions, we have been continuing to learn about potions and mixing natural herbs found around us! For our UTW lesson, we were lucky to have to Fox Parents to come in and talk about how they celebrate Chinese/Lunar New Year. We got to see some wonderful clothing, decorations and even a lucky red envelope to take home with a special bracelet inside!
We have also carried out the following activities during exploring time;
-Creating Dragon puppets using lolly sticks and folded card
-Enhancing our team building skills when Dragon dancing
-Continue to explore our Chinese Restaurant
-Reading with our friends in our den
-Developing our fine motor skills with peg boards and pegs
-Playing pretend teachers in our reading area
-Building on our knowledge and skills when measuring length and height.
