A Small School with a Big Heart, guiding our children to become kind and courageous citizens.
We will now be starting our work on phase 6 phonics which covers fundamental grammatical skills, such as verb tenses, suffixes, additional spelling rules and helpful spelling techniques.
We will also continue learning how to spell the year 2 common exception words.
Our focus this week is the /n/ sound spelt 'kn' or 'gn' at the start of words.
Please could you practise the following list of words at home with your child:
knock gnat
know gnaw
knee gnash
knit gnome
knife gnarled
Extra challenge: Can your child find any other words that have /n/ spelt 'kn' or 'gn' at the start of a word? Write them down and send them into school so your child can share them with the class.
