SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support 1:1

 

Salary details: Bucks Pay R2.12 (£13.26 per hour, pro rata- spread across the year)

Contract type: Fixed Term - 1 year initially with the potential to continue

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term Time only

We are looking for a kind and caring teaching assistant / learning support assistant to help a child with additional needs to continue their learning journey at school. They have diversity with their social and emotional development and a language delay. We feel very fortunate to have this child in our school and are looking for the right person who will also feel fortunate to work with them.

We can offer you a positive atmosphere with a supportive team and fellow teaching assistants who also carry out this amazing work and can help you to get started. Lots of opportunities to learn on the job with training provided.

About the school:: Jordans Infant School is a small school with a BIG heart.

We are located at the edge of Jordans Village in a beautiful and rural area. Our staff team work together like a family, looking after the children and their families and embracing the support of our local village and dedicated school governors.

Our Bluebell Woods on site provide Forest School adventures and a beautiful setting for any outdoor learning.

About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant with 1:1 Learning Support responsibilities, you will work with the class teacher and special needs co-ordinator to modify plans, learning resources and care to ensure the child you are working with can access the learning and feel they fully belong in the class.

A typical day:

8:30am Discussions with class teacher & time to modify plans and resources
8:45am Meet child at gate, bring in to class and help get settled for the day. Go through a visual timetable to help the child feel prepared.
9:00am Support in lessons
10:30am Own break and time with colleagues
10:45am Support on the playground during pupil break time
11am Support in lessons
12pm Support during lunchtime
12:30pm Own lunchtime
1:00pm Support the transition from end of play to class time
1:10pm Support in lessons
2:30pm Support in assembly
3pm Discussions / feedback time with class teacher / special needs co-ordinator, time to prepare resources/write up notes
3:30pm Finish

We are a team at Jordans and get to know all of the children around the school, you will be included in all the staff meeting minutes and partake in daily catch-ups and regular teaching assistant meetings to ensure your wellbeing is looked after and that we are doing our best for the children.

 

About the candidate: We are looking for a kind and caring person who is open to new ideas and enjoys working as part of a team.

You will be interested in learning about special needs and join in with daily discussions to enhance the wellbeing, care, learning and progress of the child whilst also engaging with the rest of the class and children around the school.

This role succeeds when the child has regular, consistent care and therefore is suitable for someone with a strong work ethic who is reliable and punctual.

You will have an understanding of the whole child and a growth mindset approach. You will find out about intrinsic motivation and how this helps to grow positive attitudes longterm. You will be an open and enthusiastic member of the team with a strong sense of equality and fairness seeing every child as an individual, helping them on their learning journey.
